The Back Dane Trust is a small volunteer-run charity that owns a converted farmhouse, Back Dane, in the Peak District National Park. It is situated on the edge of Cheshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire.
The Trust’s purpose is to provide educational and recreational facilities for those in need, or those who are disadvantaged in some way. We welcome and support charitable groups wanting to host respite breaks, for example for inner city kids, refugees, young carers, children and adults with learning difficulties.
Back Dane offers safe outdoor play, fun and adventure in a stunning rural location, with its own nature trail, deciduous woodland, riverside area, wildflower meadow, fire pit and sensory garden.
The diverse natural habitat encourages a rich variety of wildlife and the dark night skies are perfect for stargazing. The peace and tranquility offer its visitors both a restorative, wellbeing experience and an opportunity to explore a beautiful part of the Peak District.
The Trust encourages volunteering and we run monthly volunteering weekends to bring groups together to learn new skills whilst enhancing the Back Dane building and environment. We also run the Tuesday Club, a weekly social club in Derby for adults with learning difficulties.
